the history of moosehead lodge

... there was a little girl who came to Bass Lake every year with her family.

In this magical place, she learned to waterski, had pudding fights on the beach with her family, jumped off the back of the boat to take a bath in the lake before heading to bed in the tent, and, in quieter moments, sat by the lake, digging in the sand and dreaming big dreams.

One of that little girl's biggest dreams? Building a Bass Lake cabin to call her own. She imagined a lively, timeless place, brimming with family, friends, food and laughter.

After years of pages torn from log home magazines, hundreds of sketches of house plans, one idyllic piece of land, and parents that were on board with selling their little cabin to buy the land, that now-grown girl finally built her dream log cabin.

Once upon a time...

That cabin would became Moosehead Lodge, of course. And that little girl would become me—Kim.

Countless evenings on the mountain-view deck beside the outdoor fireplace.

Laugh-until-you-cry moments between lifelong girlfriends.

Family gatherings with parents, grandparents, and grand-babies under the warm eaves of the Great Room.

To name just a few. I wanted to created a space for people to make lifelong memories, and I think we have accomplished just that.

As for me, I'm still partly that adventurous little girl digging in the sand by the lake—just with more grown-up tastes! I love that Moosehead Lodge is a little bit of both, too: you can run barefoot with the kids in the yard... then step into an indulgent shower with six shower-heads. Or cook an elaborate meal prepared in a sleek, gourmet kitchen... while wearing your favorite comfy sweats.
These contrasts are what make life rich and memorable, and what make Moosehead Lodge a truly special place.

Fast forward 15 years, and Moosehead Lodge is all I imagined, and more. These grand log walls have witnessed:
